Jonah's (and his mom and dad's) journey with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). If your child has been diagnosed with CDH or even if you just want to talk, comment on one of the blog postings with your contact information and I'd be happy to answer any questions or would love to just hear how things are going with you and empathize.

Gallstones?!?
So I had been having "heartburn" throughout most of my pregnancy, but didn't think too much of it, every pregnant lady complains of heartburn, right? I told my doctor and she confirmed it was pretty typical and told me to take some Tums. Well, it continued to get worse and I started waking up in the middle of the night with horrible heart pains. I even threw up once but again blamed it on the pregnancy (even though I hadn't been having that serious of nauseousness). When it became completely unbearable, I called my doctor again, who recommended I head to urgent care. The doctor there immediately suspected gallstones when I told her my symptoms, and confirmed it with an ultrasound. When I was getting the ultrasound I tried to talk the technician into checking on the baby, but no dice ;-) After meeting with a surgeon, we agreed to control the gallstones with diet until after the baby was born. After a few very painful days on a liquid diet, they calmed down and it became very easy to follow a healthy diet, the thought of the pain I'd be in otherwise kept me to salads, skinless chicken breasts, and pasta with fat free sauce. Little did I know it was going to help Jonah grow big and strong so he was bigger than some term babies when he arrived 6 weeks early!
